The linocut course is a practical and theoretical introduction to the art of engraving. Starting with an overview of materials, techniques, and the use of gouges and linoleum, we will then move on to graphic design and drawing on paper—essential steps in preparation for printing.

Alongside the artisan, tutors, and the other participants, you will create a matrix - a printing element - that holds ink and transfers it onto paper. The resulting print is the original artwork, while the matrix serves merely as the tool used to create it. From engraving to preparing the press, each stage will provide an opportunity to refine your matrix and achieve a high-quality print for your projects.
